Can you explain WHY ZOI does not recommend the zeolite in ZOI products to be used by children?

Denise Stephens, ZOI CEO (00:00):

I'm going to call an audible here because we've got some great questions in the queue. So Susan, I'm going to come back to you please. And I would like you to ask your question regarding children. It is an excellent question, and we get it all the time.

ZOI Advisor(00:18):

Thank you. Yeah, actually we do get this question a lot about children. I do have young children, myself, so a lot of people ask my husband being a pharmacist. In fact, I was just talking that out with him. My background's in pharmacy and he's a pharmacist. We appreciate these standards. We appreciate Dr. Nikolas it's actually what drew them to talk the first time, 2018. So yes, this question is coming through on our from our guests as well. So when we look at others Zeolite companies, they appear to have zero issue telling people yes, just, just telling parents to give it to their kids with no, no science behind this, no background, no anything to just recommend to consume their product with no problem. Yet ClearDrops does not support the use by children. Can you explain why a ZOi ClearDrops is not recommended for children?

Dr. Nikolaos Tsirikos-Karapanos, PharmD, MD, Cardiothoracic Surgeon (01:06):

I can. And thank you very much, Susan, for, for this question now. All right. First of all, I cannot speak on behalf of other companies. So, this would be, would be a good question to other companies, why they base their decision to recommend zeolite products for pediatric population. Now we know that only the ZOI ClearDrops is it water solution of water-soluble zeolite, and that has the capability to cross cellular membranes and be absorbed in the gut. All right. So if it was to speculate, maybe some companies that are selling zeolite powders and zeolite suspensions know that there zeolite cannot cross cellular membranes. And for these reasons cannot be absorbed in the gut. And for this reason, they are not restricting their recommended use only to adults. Now at Metron Nutraceuticals, ZOI Global, we treat, as I said before, our dietary supplements.

Dr. Nikolaos Tsirikos-Karapanos, PharmD, MD, Cardiothoracic Surgeon (02:26):

So seriously as if they were pharmaceutical products, there's nothing like ZOI Global out there right now. These principle of treating our dietary supplements. So seriously as they are pharmaceutical products is not only applied to production and testing, but it's extended to all the aspects of related to this formulation also is applied to recommendations we make for using for the users of these formulations. We have no barriers on word of his principle is applied by Metron Nutraceuticals and by ZOI Global. This is applied throughout all the aspects of the business. Now, in any case, please keep that in any case use of any product in pediatric population, regardless if it is pharmaceutical or dietary supplement must be supported by the conduction of the relevant studies specifically with pediatric population, how are you going to adjust the dose for a child, even of the dose of a dietary supplement. Now, Susan, in medical and pharmaceutical sciences, children are not considered small size adults, depending on their age, children have different body water consistency, body, fat consistency. They have different anatomy and physiology that changes by the age. They have different for biochemistry that changes by the age for all these purely scientific reasons at Metron Nutraceuticals and at ZOI Global, we don't treat children as mini adults, and we are very careful not to violate the first Hippocratic principle first do not harm our little friends,

Denise Stephens, ZOI CEO (04:51):

Our little friends, what an adorable thing. You know, I love that Dr. Nikolas, that children are not small adults. That's huge, you know, just a brilliant explanation and oftentimes we try to bring, we try to get them to grow up faster and they grow up fast enough. So thank you for that clarification because you know, when someone's being multiple companies out there just saying yes, and ZOI Global, we don't say yes when it's not safe and it's not proven

Dr. Nikolaos Tsirikos-Karapanos, PharmD, MD, Cardiothoracic Surgeon (05:22):

If these companies can support why they extend the recommendation of use to be the at-risk population. And they can support with the appropriate studies, how they ended up with a certain dose per age that's fine. The problem is that most of these companies have not conducted these studies. They just recommend to adjust the dose by the kilograms of the tide. All right. Or just do what you think best for your child. This is not the appropriate scientific approach. And again, cannot speak for other companies, but I can speak for Metron Nutraceuticals and for ZOI Global, we consider all the aspects of the business so seriously, and we treat our dietary supplements as if they're our pharmaceutical products. We don't, we cannot play and be careless on our recommendations.

Denise Stephens, ZOI CEO (06:27):

You're absolutely right. Absolutely. Thank you for that. Beautiful question, Susan. We get it all of the time and thank you for the clarification, Dr. Nikolas
